Indonesian citizen, born in Surabaya in 1952, domiciled in Jakarta. Dato' Sri. Prof. DR. Tahir, MBA earned a Bachelor's degree in Management from Nan Yang University, Singapore, in 1976 and a Master of Business Administration from Golden Gate University, San Francisco, USA in 1987. He was awarded an honorary degree as Doctor Honoris Causa from Tujuh Belas Agustus University, Surabaya in 2008.

Started his business as founder, Chairman & CEO of Mayapada Group. He is the Founder and controlling Shareholder of PT Bank Mayapada Internasional, Tbk.. Previously, he also served as President Commissioner (1990-2011), Vice President Commissioner (2011-2013). Currently Dato' Sri. Prof. DR. Tahir, MBA is the President Commissioner of Bank Mayapada and was last appointed based on the Deed of GMS No. 61 dated 16 July 2020.
